One of the growing trends in monogramming and embroidery is the use of fabric-covered buttons as an accessory for a number of items, from clothing to purses to shoes. Many small embroidery shops have begun to offer a selection of fabric buttons, including custom monogrammed buttons. With a professional grade button machine, a small embroidery shop can quickly expand its product offering with a fun and versatile fabric button that has a number of uses.
When choosing your fabric you are only limited by the thickness of the material. Some materials such as silk, tend to make poor choices because they are not as durable as you would need for many button uses. You also want to avoid fabric that is so thick as to make your button ungainly or awkward. Let your creativity run wild when selecting the colors for your project. You will be able to make hundreds of buttons with just a few bolts of fabric so the costs are low, and you will probably surprise yourself with the style choices that become hot sellers for your store. The key is to experiment.
Custom made and fit slipcovers are not inexpensive; consider the amount of fabric and the labor involved. They serve a multitude of functions and will be well worth your investment. A slipcover can actually increase the longevity of your initial purchase, the sofa or chair you are covering, by protecting your piece from every day wear and tear. Think of all the kids, feet, pets and spills that end up on your sofa. Now the dirt and grime can end up on your slipcover and then easily disappear into the washing machine!
Another advantage of duvet covers is that they are changeable, so you can change the feel of the room without having to completely redecorate. There are interior designers who enjoy altering the feel of a master bedroom by simply using a new luxury duvet cover. They can be purchased as part of a bedding set, along with sheets, pillowcases and a bed skirt, all in coordinating patterns. In addition, the newly emerging wireless doorbell market has seen its number of doorbell buttons and doorbell covers increase as well. For a consumer, this means you are getting more options to choose from and at very reasonable prices. Even the most expensive doorbell covers are under $100 with the more consistent price range to be under $40.
The overall round shape of most buttons lends them to floral patterns. Using small round buttons, glue one to the frame as the flower’s center, then use a coordinating small round buttons to add the petals around the center button. Repeat around the frame as desired, varying the color and size of the button flowers if desired. This look can be effective when only one or two button flowers are added to a frame or add a bunch of them for a more overall look.
